'Abducted' minor girl comes back sick, dies

After a month of battling for her life, the 14-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by her neighbour from Malwani five months ago, died on Sunday.
When her family found her outside their home last month, she was semi-conscious and severely underweight.
The accused, 17-year-old Ramesh Tomar (name changed as he is a minor), a salesman, was arrested on Saturday.
"Tomar and the girl were having an affair," said a police officer.
"On May 14, Tomar allegedly kidnapped the girl and kept her in a shanty near Lotus lake in the Malwani area," said senior police inspector Abdul Rauf Sheikh.
"Two months later, she fell ill and Tomar spent whatever he earned for her treatment. But her condition deteriorated," said a police officer.
They decided to return to their homes. On October 14, Tomar left her near her house and fled fearing that he might be beaten up.
Her father, Zahid Khan, said his daughter had been sexually assaulted.
Khan added: "The doctor said there were holes in her stomach and they found mud and paper in it. It could be that the accused was mixing mud and paper in the food being given to my daughter."
The police said they were waiting for the girl's medical report. "In her statement, she denied that she was raped. We found that Tomar is also a minor and have sent him to Dongri remand home," said another police officer.
