Learn about forests, get certificate from UN

To create awareness about the importance of forests for human existence, the Indian Astrobiology Research Centre is offering the International Year of Forests 2011 Certification Programme to school and college students.
Participants will receive a certificate approved by the United Nations (UN).
The UN General Assembly had declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests (IYF).
Pushkar Vaidya, the programme head and a scientist at IARC, said: "Schools have to register with us, but are not expected to teach or train students, just extend support to students and share IYF 2011 books, videos and power point presentations."
Only students from classes 5 to 9 can participate in the programme.
"The syllabus includes everything about forests from Amazon to Indian forests. Deforestation has affected us badly. The next generation has to understand the importance of sustaining forests."
Interested schools and students can visit their official website www.astrobiology.co.in
