There has been a lot of speculation about who will play the female leads in the sequel to Race. While actor Sonakshi Sinha has been finalised to play one amongst the two leads in the film, there have been a couple of names tossed up when talks about the other lead surfaced. Buzz had it that actor Deepika Padukone was finalised to play the role, but sources close to the film's unit reveal that she has now been replaced.
The filmmakers were very keen on roping in Deepika, but looks like they will now have to go ahead without her. Deepika already has a lot of films in her kitty and she also recently announced that she would be doing Ayan Mukherjee's film with Ranbir Kapoor. She has already allotted her dates to Ayan's film and that is the time when Race 2 will start rolling as well.
A source close to the actor says, "Dippy has a really tight schedule for the next couple of months and it will not be possible for her to juggle two projects at the same time. Though she was very keen to do it, she opted out of the project citing date issues."
And as they say, one's loss is another's gain, looks like the role has now gone to Priyanka. While it isn't clear if the producers have zeroed in on Priyanka, if sources are to be believed, they have approached her and she too has shown a favourable interest in the project. The source adds, "After Barfee, Priyanka has some time and she is still deciding which films to take up. She is also busy with her music album and hasn't had the time to greenlight any project. Once she is back from the US, the confirmations will take place." Well, as of now, it isn't a clear picture but we are sure it will be fun to see Sonakshi and Priyanka on screen with actor John Abraham.
