Studies suggest that Mumbai is one of the most affordable places when it comes to travel…

While Mumbaikars are used to kvetching and cribbing about traffic, they do agree that travelling in Mumbai is much safer than any other city. In fact, a recent survey conducted by Hotels.com reinstated the same. In an all India poll, the highest number of voters believed that Mumbai is the most affordable place to travel — with cabs and autos running on meter (which is not the case in most other Indian cities), and the local trains that never disappoint. Here's what our city celebs have to say:

Manasi Parekh Gohil
Mumbai is a city with all forms of transports - autorikshaws, cabs, local buses and trains. It is well connected, which makes traveling very easy. The best part is that it is cheap and also available 24 x 7! I think Mumbai supersedes US when it comes to transportation.

Ankita Lokhande
Commuting in Mumbai is so much safer than other cities. I can travel in an auto even at 4-5 am without worrying about safety issues. Also Mumbai is so huge unlike Indore, where I grew up and so we do travel long distances and the transportation makes traveling very convenient.

Vivan Bhatena
Yes Mumbai is much cheaper in terms of travel and transport, prime reason being the standard of living of the people. Traveling here is more convenient and there isn't much of a language barrier between the commuter and the host. Traffic can be a problem but still it is much better than places like Bangalore or Delhi.

Sushant Singh Rajput
Transport is the best thing about Mumbai. It caters to people from different income levels. Those who don't like traffic can hop on to a train, while others who want to avoid crowd have the convenience of an auto or cab.

Kritika Kamra
The trains are the lifeline of the city. They run till 1 am and are the fastest and cheapest. I can hop into an auto even at 3 am. Unlike Delhi, autos here run on meters, which spares us of all the haggling.

Jai Kalra
I know in my head that I can travel safe in Mumbai, regardless of the time. However, I wish there were better infrastructure too. The roads, the potholes and the traffic jams really make it a pain to travel.
