A budget tab where display is an issue

But scores over competition since it runs on the newer Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system

The Google Nexus 7 is redefining what budget tablets
should be like. The tablet, available on some Indian e-tailer websites,
is available for roughly Rs.17,000. If you consider the original price of the tablet is just $200 (approx `11,000),
the budget tablet market is all set to get shaken up. It is in this
scenario that budget tablet manufacturer, Zync, launches its latest
tablet the Z999 Plus.
As you’d expect budget tablets to be, the body of the Z999 is all plastic. But the tablet does feel sturdier than its predecessor whose back flexed a bit when you grip it tightly. While there is nothing impressive about the Z999’s construction, you can’t find any glaring faults with it either. The tablet comes with both microUSB and HDMI out ports. It can also accept SIM cards, allowing you to browse on the go as well as place calls. The body also has four hardware touch buttons. These are redundant because Ice Cream Sandwich, which is the OS loaded on this tablet, uses soft buttons to execute the same functions. Coming to the display, the tablet has a 7-inch LED screen with a resolution of 800x600 pixels. Text appears fuzzy, and the screen is not as bright as you’d like it to be. The display scored poorly even when it comes to viewing angles. The Z999 runs on the 1.5GHz processor and a Mali 400 graphics processor. It also has 512MB of RAM. The tablet functions smoothly for most daily tasks, and popular games out there. Though I wouldn’t recommend it for the more high-end games on the market, considering the device has just 512MB RAM. The Z999 is priced at `11,990, which means that it is competing with a bigger league of devices. The Z999 scores over competition since it runs on the newer Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system; most other tablets run on Android Gingerbread. It also has a more powerful CPU compared to others. Unfortunately, lower RAM means that the performance isn’t as good as it can be. The display, however, is the device’s weakest point. The Nexus 7 may be a better bet over the long term. However, if your budget is super tight, then the Z999 may be the one for you. |
