Arrest 13, mostly farmers and fertilizer dealers, and five bar girls from Mumbai


The Panchgani police claimed they bust a rave party around midnight on Saturday and have arrested 18 people, including five bar girls. The party was being held at a lodge in Gureghar village, around seven kilometres from the hill station, on the road to Mahabaleshwar.
Titled ‘Enjoy party,’ it was hosted by 38-year-old Anil Babu Dhole, a resident of Malewadi village in Solapur. The Shri Balaji Lodge, where the party was held, is owned by Shankar Hogade
Most of the suspects are traders of fertilizers and farmers from Thane, Solapur, Pandarpur, Mumbai and Akluj. The police claim to have seized India-made foreign liquor bottles, a DJ machine, music systems and disco lights.
The raid went on till early Sunday after which the revellers were formally arrested. They were produced before the court in Mahabaleshwar on Monday which remanded them in police custody for three days.
The arrested people include party host Dhole, a resident of Lokmanyanagar in Thane Rahul Ramakant Khanna, 32, Umesh Bhagwan Suryawanshi, 38, from Gandhi Chowk in Akluj, Dasharat Ganpat Bhoite, 40, from Phaltan, Surendra Arjun Bhosale, 41, from Satara, Sudhir Mohan Kashid, 38, from Barshi, Aktar Dhastagir Patvegar, 32, and Rangrao Rajaram Kadam, 45, both from Pandharpur, and Vishal Ramkant Bhakare, 35.
Assistant police inspector Rajendra Dokade, who is investigating the case, said, “We received a tip off that the partying crowd was playing loud music and creating public nuisance. When we reached the lodge around Saturday midnight, we found some people in compromising positions.”
Dokade added that most of the 12 arrested were farmers and fertiliser dealers and that five bar girls had been summoned from Mumbai for entertainment.
