Jyoti Prajapat - India's 10 Ordinary People with Extraordinary Tales

Jyoti Prajapat
Jyoti Prajapat is the one who defies those who question the quality of education in government schools, located especially in rural areas. The nine year old from Baghsuri, Ajmer has made best friends with books and helps others enjoy the joy of reading. She has an array of books in the school library, which was made possible by the local NGO Disha when it partnered with Room to Read (RTR) in June 2011. The NGO started the library in Jyoti's government primary school. She said, “I couldn't read fluently initially. But, the stories interested me so much that I wouldn't miss a day. Now I read easily and daily.” RTR has started about 250 libraries in the district in which 148 are run with Disha’s partnership.
