Vishnu lifts ITF title
Second seed Vishnu Vardhan claimed the men’s singles title in the Mysore ITF Open championship with a 7-6(7) 6-3 win over seventh seed N Sriram Balaji in the final at the Mysore Tennis Club court on Saturday.

Sorry start for Indian duo

Indian duo of Sharmila Nicollet and Smriti Mehra started on a disappointing note at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open golf on the Ladies European Tour in Brezno. Sharmila carded an eight-over 80. Smriti was one behind at 81.

Gangjee misses cut
A string of bogeys and a double bogey spoilt Rahil Gangjee’s card as he missed the cut by one shot in the Mexico Open in Leon on Saturday. Gangjee, who had a first round 71, was two shots away from the cut with two holes left.

Jeev marches ahead
Still searching for his first top-10 finish on the European tour this season, Jeev Milkha Singh carded a four-under 68 and moved to tied seventh after the third round of the Nordea Masters at Bro Hof Slott golf club in Stockholm on Saturday. Jeev is now nine-under through three rounds.

Atwal falls to 52nd
Arjun Atwal (74) suffered a steep fall down the leader-board but managed to make the halfway cut after the second round of the FedEx St Jude Classic in Memphis. Atwal shot a second round four-over 74 and tumbled to tied 52nd, a fall of 49 places.

Mira takes pole position
The 9th JK Tyre Rotax Max National Karting Championship got off to a scorching start at the JK Tyre-MMS Kartainment Track in Hyderabad on Saturday. In the Micro Max category, 11-year old girl Mira Kirit Erda (Team Maini Racing) from Baroda topped the qualifying with a best lap time of 46:460.

Khan scalps four
Akbar Khan took four for 54 as Karnataka Sporting Association folded out Payyade Sports Club for 263 on Day Two of the Young Comrade Shield Cricket Tournament final at the Karnataka ground on Saturday.

Manudev stuns Shahbaz
IH Manudev (Karnataka) shocked holder Shahbaz Khan (PSPB) in the PJ Hindu Gymkhana National 6-Red Snooker in Mumbai on Saturday. Down 0-3 and virtually out at 1-4, Manudev won 24-37 2-61 2-38 48-20 3-43 49-12 34-7 51-15 38-25.
