Here's our primer for easy-to-do party makeup

Q. I am 22 and I want some tips on dressing up for a party that I have to attend soon. Could you please help?
—Sana
Ans. Lets start with your make-up. Foundation: stick to your skin tone. Don't try to go fairer because the difference is always visible. Use a cream foundation, blend it well with your fingers, than apply a translucent powder (compact) to keep the foundation in place.
Eyes: Apply a colour like a peachish-pink with a golden or bronze tone, blend well with a small blending brush. Next, take black eye-shadow and apply it. Top it with heavy kohl in place of the eye-liner and also in the lower lid but make sure you apply a little extra compact below your lower eye-lid (this will help keep the kohl stay in place. Top it with white glitter.
Cheeks: give a beautiful peach blush and top it with a bronzer .
Lips: Go for shocking pink, because this will light up the entire look.
Now, it's time for your hair:
First tong (curl) your entire hair, then take the hair to one side and tie a plait very roughly. Don't tie a rubber band — either leave it the way it is or tie a ribbion. There, you are done!

Q. I have a lot of dandruff so my doctor has recommended me a medicated shampoo. However, the shampoo is drying out my hair. What should I do?
—Sujata
Ans. You can continue with the shampoo your doctor has suggested. What will help you is a conditioner, but make sure it does not touch your scalp. That should take care of your dryness.

Q. When I get my hair touched up from a salon, it is perfect but when I do it at home I don't get the same results.
—Lata
Ans. Work done by professionals is always better. The perfect look depends on colour application technique, mixing ratio according to your grey hair percentage, developing time. Shampoo and conditioning technique also play an important part. Also if you are using a fashion shade and you are not mixing it well or in the right ratio, the colour will get patchy. So please don't do it at home as the hair will become a mess.
Q. I am leaving for the US to do my MBA. I have beautiful hair. Should I carry shampoos and conditioners from India? How often should I oil my hair? Should I get my hair spa done before leaving?
—Himani
Ans. First of all, do not carry shampoo and conditioner with you. Buy what is available there that suits your hair because as in India products manufactured in US are made with R&D that suit their climate and water. You can oil your hair once a week with just 1 teaspoon on the scalp. Yes you can get your hair spa or body spa done as many times as you want.
