The four-in-one kit can help school students draw geometric figures in just five seconds

If you, as a parent, are worried about your child getting hurt by the most dangerous items in the school bag – the implements in the geometry box – it's time to throw your worries out of the window.
A young scientist, N Praveen (23), has developed a four-in-one geometry kit that does away with the pointed compass and divider, which has harmed thousands of students while carelessly using these items in class or at home.
The kit comprises of a scale, protractor, pencil and compass (without the much-feared sharp point).
The four-in-one set weighs just 17gm, and can be accommodated in the school bag without a struggle; or it can even be carried in the student's pocket. The convenience of carrying this set is due to all four devices being attached to just one 15-cm scale.
Praveen demonstrated to people how the set can enable students to draw figures and diagrams in barely five seconds as compared to up to 30 seconds taken by the conventional geometry sets.
The four-in-one geometry set was distributed among students in about 60 schools and colleges in the state at `20 each while it was given free of cost to many poor students who could not afford them. And these were appreciated by the faculties of these academic institutions who were impressed by the set.
The young scientist, a son of a fruit distributor, is a native of Hiriyur in Chitradurga district. He had his primary and secondary education in his native place and pre-university education in Tumkur district, before completing BE (Aerospace) by correspondence from Pune University.
He now works as a researcher at Aryabhatta AE Organisation's astronomy division in Bangalore.
