So who's your good luck charm, then?
Everyone has a real-life angel to take them to a higher level of existence. Celebs talk to After Hrs about the people who make them bloom!

Do you find someone in your life almost constantly exerting a positive influence on you, one that brings you good fortune and joy? Well, that person could be your good luck charm, your personal angel who uplifts you from the dreariness of life.
Says businesswoman and naturopath Rita Dhody: "I believe that a person who brings positivity into my life, something that raises my spirits and consciousness is the greatest good luck charm. My spiritual mentor, Swami Muktananda, remains my favourite good luck charm of all. I'm imbibing life through the raised consciousness I experience by practicing his teachings. It's like having opened myself up to a continous multi-dimensional experience."
Says gallerist Pravina Mecklai, "My husband Jamal is my good luck charm in every sense of the word. My life has become complete in every way after I met him. It's shown its effects in what I am, into what my professional life has evolved into, and in what our family is today."
Model and actor Rashmi Nigam concurs with Rita's experience of positivity, only that she finds it in the conversations she has with her best friend. "Some people bring out the best in you and my friend Zarina is like that. We're so much in sync with each other, maybe it's because we've had similar experiences in life. Whenever I call her up, I find myself uplifted. She makes me see the positive side of things and helps me find the solution to my problems. Between us there is total acceptance without an attempt to hide our real selves and very importantly we're not judging each other all the time."
Designer Falguni Peacock too believes that it is a member in her family who is her good luck charm. "I feel my daughter has proved to be lucky for us. After she was born our business expanded, work grew and we gained more recognition as professionals. It's true that your luck changes when some people come into your life. While I also feel that it's a question of the right time that brings luck, the birth of my daughter has definitely brought with it a new day for us."

What is a Good Luck Charm?

A good luck charm is an object that produces a positive influence over the fortunes of a person, or set of persons upon possession.

Certain objects have the ability to emit positive or negative spiritual energy, depending on their nature. The 'Lecher' and 'Lobe' antennae are simple scientific devices, which can be used to measure subtle amounts of energy emitted from living organisms and inanimate objects. Experiments using these antennae, connected to a 'Biometer', measuring energy in 'Bovine' units, were conducted to find the energy generated by certain religious objects and symbols of good luck. The findings are shown in the box: >>>
OBJECT.................. ENERGY LEVEL

    * A Healthy Human Being..........6,500 bovis
    * Ringing of Church Bells..........11,000 bovis
    * Tibetan Prayer Wheel..........14,000 bovis
    * Call from an East facing Mosque..........12,000 bovis
    * The Hindu Swastik.........1,000,000 bovis
    * An inverted Swastik.......... - 1,000,000 bovis

As an astrology website, we often get enquiries from people who want to know which good luck charm can help them win the lottery, or win at gambling and other other games of chance. It is possible to make such a recommendation and the details of how this can be done are explained on link give above. But do good luck charms actually work? In a word - yes. However, the question one should really ask is:

"How can I find a good luck charm that works for me?"

The answer to this question is not quite so simple, as one must have a clearer understanding of the nature of the charm in question and how one wants that charm to work.

Some good luck charms, such as ‘Vedic Talismans’ are able to bring good luck as a result of a combination of this positive spiritual energy, produced from their physical form, the spiritual energy imparted in them during their consecration and through the faith that is placed in them by those who possess them. The workings and beliefs behind Vedic Talismans have been described in detail on our 'About Yantras' webpage.

Other forms of good luck charms are generally symbolical in nature and rely more on the power of suggestion. A study conducted by a British University showed that more than 30% of those who carried good luck charms felt their luck had genuinely improved! Although there is no definitive explanation, this perhaps best explains the manner in which good luck charms work, as the common denominator, which powers both types of charms is, the faith placed in them by their users.

Once a user recognises the latent positive spiritual energy of a lucky object, they allow that object to realise it’s potential to do good, by diminishing the negative effects of bad periods and exploiting the full benefit of benefit of good times. Of course, in order to take full advantage of a good period, a proactive approach is required, as even in the ancient Hindu scriptures it is said that it is one’s actions that are above all.

The effects of authentic good luck charms can often be unexpectedly swift and profound and many people have had noteworthy experiences.

Although these rosaries are a product of the ancient Vedic period, through modern science, we now know that the figure '108' is of particular relevance, as the distance between the Earth and the Sun is approximately 108 times the Sun's diameter. The Sun's diameter is about 108 times that of the Earth's. The distance between the Earth and the Moon is approximately 108 times the Moon's diameter.
