GROWING NUMBERS Deepshikha Agarwal, dietician, says that nearly 40% of the people who visit her suffer from CWS in varied levels. “A lot of people suffer from CWS. Surprisingly, most of these are men. Another big chunk comprises of students. Both of these groups indulge in binge drinking of coffee to keep themselves mentally agile in times of stress,” says she. Some of the biggest symptoms include headache, irritability, lethargy, indigestion, lack of constipation and insomnia. Agarwal suggests that the best way to cope with a situation like CWS would be clever substitution. “The best way would be to replace the regular coffee intake with green tea or ginger tea. These act like stimulants in times of need, but ensure to keep the problem in check. While ginger aids in digestion and reduces chances of acidity, green tea is rich in antioxidants and hence aids concentration,” says she.
