BEDROOM

BEDROOM

“The bedroom is a place where flooring should be beautiful as well as comfortable. Marble, wood and ceramic are the most widely used materials for bedrooms,” says Alok Goel, CEO of NITCO Tiles Ltd. Glazed vitrified tiles in the form of Marbonite (see pic), a non-porous substance that mimics marble and is odourresistant and scratch-proof.The homogenous granular body, protected by glaze gives these tiles a smooth appearance. Leather tiles are another option for bedrooms. They are made of the same material as shoe soles and have finishing touches of aniline dye and wax. Leather is a fire-proof and sound-absorbing material. Cucu Godhwani, director, Sovereign Leather Innovators Pvt Ltd says, “Leather tiles come in thick and thin varieties. The thickness determines the durability and price. You can choose from dark brown, coffee brown, tan, antique brown and black.”
LEATHER: With an average lifetime of 20 years to 30 years, leather tiles can be customised for floors as well as walls. They need to be polished regularly and should not be cleaned with water.
