Barber kills customer with scissors for non-payment

When
Mahesh Jatane walked into a barber shop at Malad, he did not know what
he would soon face. Also, barber Jayaram Sharma did not know he would
soon be using his scissors to stab a man in his stomach. Wednesday evening turned out to be quite unfortunate for both, with Sharma turning into a murderer and Jatane being stabbed. “They got into an argument over non-payment of some dues of the deceased customer. The barber ended up murdering Jatane in a fit of rage,” said senior inspector of Malad police Avinash Jadhav. A complaint was lodged with the Malad police by Kundan Ratilal, a customer who got injured trying to intervene between the two. According to Ratilal’s complaint, Jatane was drunk when he came for a shave at Sharma’s stall under a tree in Vitthal Nagar. But the 60-year-old barber, displeased with his old customer’s habit of getting services on credit, refused. Sharma tried to reason with Jatane saying that he would not give him a shave since he was drunk, but it turned into a fight about Jatane refusing to pay his dues. Following this, Sharma stabbed Jatane in his stomach with his scissors which killed him. “We have arrested Sharma and are verifying the prima facie elements. He has been booked under section 302 of the IPC for murder and will be produced in court on Thursday,” Jadhav said. |
