One-stop shop for all your stationery needs

No need to run around in the vicinity looking for stationery, Anupam Superstore is just next to you

Most of us have walked miles in search of a notebook, glitter pens, a diary or coloured pencils to gift the neighbour's child. Many times, we were forced to buy anything whatever was shoved before us, far removed from what we had thought of buying.
Somebody around you is changing that. They are not just looking after all these needs, but setting a trend in the stationery world by coming up with the novel concept of stationery retails. A wide range of products are available at two jumbo-stationery outlets of Anupam Store — from school indispensables like pen and pencil, office stationeries like diary, yearly planner and calculator, to a host of computer and mobile products.
Anupam Superstore and Anupam Megastore offer you a rich, mall-like experience in stationery shopping with 30,000 varieties of products. The outlets, in Borivali, are owned by Ramnik Gala.
"Ours is a family-run enterprise. My six elder brothers and I had been interested in the stationery business from the start. I used to accompany them for exhibitions around the country and abroad. That's when I realised there's a huge market for stationery," Ramnik said.
It has been a long journey of 39 years. The first shop, Anupam Book Centre, was opened by the two eldest Gala brothers — Mani and Dheeraj in Goregaon (East) in 1973. This was followed by another outlet in Andheri (East) in 1985 and yet another in Andheri (West) in 1988. The next store opened in Borivali (West) in 2000. This was started by the youngest of the Gala brothers, Ramnik.
"In most stationery stores, products are sold across the counter. However, I wanted a store where products are sold on display," Ramnik said.
"I wanted to give my clients the feel of a shopping mall where they could relax and shop in an air-conditioned environment, making it convenient for them to pick up products as per their liking and budget," he said.
Thus, Ramnik laid the genesis of Anupam Superstore, Borivali, in 2005, opposite Borivali railway station. The store occupies 8,000 sq. ft. in a three-storied building. The diversity of products - computer-related products such as laptops, printers, keyboards, mobile phones, digital cameras, toys, schoolbags, handbags, cosmetics, perfumes, jewellery, educational books, DVDs, confectionery, return gifts — isn't its only USP. Well-trained staff and unbeatable prices are other factors that make people return to the store. "I can confidently say that you will not find such an exhaustive range of products under one roof anywhere in Mumbai…We've also got hundreds of exquisite art and craft items which you're unlikely to find in any stationery shop…We have products for everyone," Ramnik said.
To meet the growing craze for stationery products, he opened one more store last year at Moksh Plaza, a few steps away from Anupam Superstore. On account of Dussehra and Diwali, both the stores are offering exclusive offers and gifts on mobile phones, digital cameras and laptops. There's a lucky draw too where you can scratch a card and win up to Rs12 lakhs, LCD TVs, refrigerators, air-conditioners, etc.
"Anupam is all about branded items, good quality and world-class service," Ramnik said.
