Umang Mehta launched a first-of-its kind experiential studio

Sachin inaugurates a bespoke experiential studio

Popular bespoke tailoring maven and designer, Umang Mehta launched a first-of-its kind experiential studio in a suburban Mumbai upscale area. The doors of the 1,500 sq ft opulent studio were formally thrown open by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in the presence of other celebrity guests at a private gathering. Having started his journey at a fashion store in upmarket SoBo, Umang grew on to handle design, finance, operations, merchandising and customer service. Disillusioned over the disproportionate attention to design alone and customer's craze for mere labels, a decade ago he had ventured on his own to provide a fine balance in dressing across design, material, perfect fit and relevant look.
Umang has worked closely over the last two decades with celebrities that include the who's who from Bollywood, celebrated sports personalities, industrialists, bureaucrats, politicians, an array of costume designers, wardrobe stylists and production houses amongst others. For the first time, Umang will provide signature styling for bespoke tailoring. The earlier set-up of Yu Handcrafted has been merged into a single business line, moving the fashion establishment to the new address in Santacruz (W).
Speaking at the private gathering Umang said, “The studio expanse would provide for micro-customisation, fine detailing and our finest craftsmen will ensure every stitch to perfection. While design and material remains integral to the process, our focus remains on the handcrafted, art of quality making for each garment to provide the ultimate perfect fit and apt look. I am glad to be able to meet my patrons' wishes to don attire beyond design house labels and across occasions that accentuates the individual in them.“
The signature line will cater to dressing across categories that would include power dressing for business, sports wear and trousseau for grooms-to-be and his family . The maverick bespoke creator is supported by his better half and business partner Shraddha Mehta, who will oversee studio operations, handcrafting facilities and trials. Prior appointment is required to experience the thousands of options of cloth lengths and trims from across the world with personalised design consulting.
