ACB finds nearly Rs 1cr assets in house of PWD inspector caught taking bribe

A day after the ACB caught Sandhya Pole, a Public Works Department inspector, accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe, the ACB, during a search at her Borivli house, found that she had amassed huge wealth. ACB officers nabbed Pole on Monday. Officers found Rs 16,850 cash, FDs to the tune of Rs 48.5 lakh, a bank balance of Rs 38.13 lakh, an LIC policy of Rs 9.5 lakh and documents of three flats, one shop and two plots. Following seizure of these assets, the ACB is likely to register a case of disproportionate assets.
The ACB on Tuesday arrested Pole’s assistant, senior clerk Ajit Kadam, who had signed some papers on behalf of Pole.
Kadam’s role is being probed.
According to an officer, the complainant, an electric contractor, had said that Pole was to inspect electric wirings installed by him in 100 flats and submit areport. The victim said Pole demanded Rs 5,000 a flat to write a favourable report.
